Library of Congress


Library of Congress was established in 1800 in Washington DC, USA is a research library. LOC is the oldest federal cultural institution in USA and National Libarary of the country. It is the largest libarary in world by number of books and shelf space. LOC is open to public but book checkout is allowed to Member of Congress, Libarary Employees, High Rank Govt Officials and Supreme Court Justices.  Library has total staff over 3500 James H Billington is the director of LOC.

LOC.gov is the official website of Libarary of Congress which can be accessed online and users may ask librarian, find digital collections or library catalogs. It is among top 1000 most used websites in USA. Web visitors can explore and know about the various resources and programs by LOC. One can go through Collection Highlights for Librarians, Teachers, Publishers, Researchers.
